was it maddis? not sure but one close adviser just said the other day that a lot of trumps promises were silly, can’t put which policy he was referring to but the wall is a great example. most illegals in the USA, are ones that cross through the border for a _”vacation”_ and never leave… asides from that, for the last few years there has been more illegals entering the country than leaving, mexico has a fairly good economy and most day to day items are cheap.
the other thing is the cost of the wall when it can be dug under or flown over. the smartest and cheapest border control would be an electric fenceless system of sensors and drones… the vast majority would turn around when a drone hovers them indicating to border guards where to pick the illegals up…
in my mind the best way would be first of all, getting corporate, lobby and foreign money out of politics, then we would naturally not find it fit to fight commodity wars like in the oil regions and the pharmaceutical opium wars that push us into war or kills hundreds of thousand americans each year by overdoses… when we have stopped fighting corporate wars we will have no terrorism problems other than domestic and the easiest thing for North America would be a 3 nation immigration policy and no borders at all. other than a wee one, not well traveled, in south mexico and airports.
