  1. First comment notification squad. U give me so much of everything I’m missing in life. Thank you for helping me through your videos.

  2. Good video! By the way, not too long ago I watched an inspirational Ted Talk on YouTube titled ‘5 before 5’. I recommend everyone to watch it becaus it just might change someone’s life.

    • makola1970 your brain feels motivated when it imagines the story of how you might act and credibly predicts that the result is a rewarding situation.

      How do you create that?

Grab a 2 pieces of paper and a pencil

      2 parts:

      Macro-scale:

      1) Know what rewards you. Be fearlessly honest about the things that make you feel incrementally fulfilled and joyful. Name them
      2) Know what situation is at your task’s end. Write out 1-2 sentences of how you would recognize it. That’s called the Definition of Done.
(If you cannot write this, then talk to someone to get clarity)
      3) Know what impact that has on *you*. Write down your “why”.
(If you cannot write this for your self, think about what ways you value helping others. Then try writing from that perspective. If you cannot do *that*, then get clarity about the needs underneath this task.)

      Micro Scale:
      4) talk out loud a story of how you step from your current situation to the end situation. If you’re just totally stuck here, then grab two other pieces of paper and start from the beginning again with the goal “learn how to X.”
As you do this, notice something and write it down:
      4) doubts and worries. Just write down just their names. (name of a doubt might be a question like “do we have enough Vespene Gas?”) Yes: Listen to your voice of self-doubt, but don’t let it ramble.
      5) The story of A->B is your current plan. Look at the list of doubts. Draw a square to the left of the ones that still look credible when you calmly reflect on them. Cross out the ones that you’re sure are silly.
      6) The list of doubts are your risks. You’ve named them so now you can take power over them. How?
      For each of them, either
6.A) Explicitly decide that either if it happens you will endure it. Cross it off.
6.B) Explicitly decide to tackle it. “Plan to mitigate R” is now a subtask. (ex: “check inventory of Vespene Gas.”)
      7) Now sort your list of risk-mitigation tasks to put the most impactful risks on top.
      8) Now tell yourself again the story again of how you reach the goal. Write those steps down underneath the list of risk-mitigation steps.
      9) Next to them, write down a new list: signs of progress. These are ways you can look at the situation and recognize that you’ve made incremental progress. You’ll get instant gratification as you go along.

      This plan helps because
      – The instant gratification is what will motivate you as you work.
      – The risk list will become a risk-handled list and will quiet the voice of self-doubt that makes you not want to think about this task.
The risk-to-endure list is something you’ll respond to with the mantra: “X is scary but X is worth it. I can bear it because I am stronger than I think.”
      – The “Why” is what you will use to get started. If you feel resistance to starting, then say the ‘why’ out loud to yourself as you do. Look up ‘pomodoro technique’ and put in 20 minutes mitigating a credible risk.

  3. Brendon! This goes hand in hand with facing the 3 Enemies of our Personal Growth. All your training compounds and shows up in my life daily. Thanks forALWAYS Bringing the Joy!

  4. Total self reliance is a tough road to walk but when you get used to it, nothing is more liberating.
    You are your #1 fan.

  5. Along my journey I have discovered that hard work is very important – but hard work directed at something that is for someone elses agenda and not our own, is a self-defeating activity. We must do what we are passionate about and build a lifestyle around that. Thank you ✌️️
