The Afro pick is much more than a styling tool. It's a major player in Black history, explains artist Jon Gray.

I love this…literally such a small thing to the world..means so much to us with natural thick kinky coily curly beautiful hair. ❤ We are beautiful, even if it’s deemed “unruly & unprofessional” by many Americans.. it’s US. We were made this way. Black is beautiful. Black hair is beautiful.
Thank you Ted
I see nothing wrong with afro hairstyle in the gov. In Czech republic, even our politicians wear afro, look it up – Dominik Feri

Could cover locks from various cultures, it’s not just African
TR Willis Oh? What other types of hair are discriminated against in our country, or elsewhere? You probably have a ton of examples since you seem so interested in the topic. Please, share.
@Hiti67 “our country”? you are talking to strangers on the internet. what? are you just another american assuming everyone else in the world is american
@Hiti67
What he’s saying isn’t bullshit if you extrapolate it to wider cultures beyond the atlantic. I mean long hair for men in fundamentalist Islamic states is considered frowned upon; it may not have the cultural background of the black afro, but it’s still a very repressive thing to have to keep your hair short, or your beard long, as it is in certain countries. There are loads of hairstyles women could adopt that would absolutely be frowned upon depending where you’re talking about. It’s wide and interesting topic.
Connor Gerrard When the original video is about the struggle African-AMERICANS have dealt with and how their hair plays a part in that? Yup. Still waiting on one of you numb-nuts to actually contribute to the conversation instead of spewing thinly veiled bullshit.
So that’s how they do it !
Thanks for this my wife and I were just talking about those picks
The pick is one of the coolest objects that we don’t think about

This was a good, informative vid!
I just asked Great Big Story for a video that included black hair and you guys made one about black hair. I love you 3000, but like Andre 🙂
Informative. I thought it was just a dense and long hair comb. Neither which I have. 🙁
