MIT college student Happiness Buolamwini was dealing with facial analysis software when she noticed a problem: the software application didn't identify her face– because individuals who coded the algorithm hadn't taught it to determine a broad range of skin tones and facial structures. Now she's on an objective to combat bias in artificial intelligence, a phenomenon she calls the "coded gaze." It's a mind-blowing speak about the requirement for responsibility in coding … as algorithms take over a growing number of elements of our lives.
