Lee Thomas interesting point. I wonder what that would look like being played out in the 3-D world. I think either way you have to acknowledge that “As above, so below” is certainly in effect here and this metaphor must have a real world manifestation of this same principle but in a less obvious way, at the least in terms of the material world.
And you are 100% right to say it’s a selection not an election. In fact I think government itself entirely immoral as it is always based on a monopoly on violence. I think of it like a social disease that causes people to think that it is somehow possible to impart rights that they themselves don’t have as an individual (“right” to kill, “right” to steal aka “right” to tax) to other people on their behalf, simply because there is a large group or “collective” (this is the ugly side of that word ) that supposedly is where government derived its power from. The truth is every sentient being in the universe has the same rights and that can never be changed. You can never give someone rights on your behalf that you never had in the first place. If nobody has the right to kill people (not out of self defense of course as that is a sacred right as well) or to steal than how can we impart these rights to anyone else on our behalf. If that’s truly possible, I’d like to know what the magic number of people is that need to get together to be able to invent and bestow new rights on people- especially rights that are themselves a violation of someone else’s rights. This all may sound abstract but it’s important to drill down to these questions and ask ourselves if our current system is moral and just or immoral and unjust. I think it’s fairly obvious that any system based on violence is only going to manifest as more chaos and less freedom in the world. If anybody thinks I’m wrong I’d love to have a conversation about this so that maybe I can see the concept of government from a different perspective and perhaps have my mind changed about it being inherently violent and immoral. I have to distinguish between a hypothetical “voluntary” government that doesn’t essentially force itself on people (like me for example) that do not want to live under it and the type of government we have now that doesn’t give a damn about having any real type of consent of the governed. There’s a big difference and government could technically exist in a way that is moral and doesn’t violate people’s rights but instead only focuses on protecting peoples rights- which is in large part, it’s ostensible purpose. Some would say that’s not really a government anymore – it’s more of a protectorate. I can get down with that concept a lot more than government.
