My sister’s farm on Kangaroo Island was burnt from one end to the other. By a miracle, the house was all that remained. The property was surrounded on three sides by blue-gum (gasoline trees) plantation which exploded into flames. They had sheep in the thousands and over a hundred head of cattle, most having to be shot and buried. She also worked at the Flinders Chase Visitor’s Centre not too far from their farm which was burnt down as well, so even her job is gone! My nephew’s home on Vivonne Bay barely escaped the inferno as well.
Years ago, her hubby got a heavy fine for “illegal” clearing of scrub on his own property. For the last several years they have been banned from creating wide enough fire-breaks and burn-offs during safe periods around the property rim for one reason only! Pressure from the Greens at local and state government level to stop hazard reduction burn-offs because of that “evil” CO2 that it will create. So they were left with a lethal build up of dry fuel ready to destroy! Stopping a little bit of CO2 going into the atmosphere and in return we have these fires that create a thousand times more CO2 along with the death, destruction, and desolation that for the most part NEVER would have occurred otherwise. Sorry but again, the Greens are as much to blame as the arsonists!

What they are doing here in Australia is disgusting. These fires have just put a nail in the coffin to the farmers. The drought had already crushed them before the bulk of them started. Theyâve been screaming out for aid for months on end. Dairy farmers have been sending their milkers to slaughter because they canât feed them, and they government stood back and let them sink.
Only until there was absolute rage on national talk back radio stations did they offer to help. You know what they offered?
To buy the land so they could exit. Agenda 21 at its core.
Then to save face to the general public that wouldnât know much detail about it they offered loans with zero interest for the first 2 years (which no struggling farmer would consider).
No media outlets are talking about increasing jail terms for arsonists, statistics on deliberately lit fires or policy changes for land management.
Property owners canât even clear their own land to save their property.
