"If we want to fix our politics, we have to do something about inequality," says social psychologist Keith Payne. Showing how economic inequality changes the way people see and behave towards one another, Payne helps explain the rise of the political polarization that's slicing up society — and challenges us to think twice the next time we dismiss someone for the sake of politics.

I like turtles too!
C’est vraiment intéressant!!
Thanks for it
Yes it is truthful and Interesting. I agree.
Israeli speaking French? Awesome. Seattle area here.
How did that happen?
MLK: “This country has socialism for the rich, rugged individualism for the poor.”
@Analogy Accepted ah hah, you see. It’s not the rich that maintains the power, but the rich, in conjunction with the government. Only when government intervenes in a free market do monopolies form and are allowed long term reign.
Agreed. I filmed this

@Wei Chen monopolies exist outside government control. It’s easier to maintain with government aid, sure. But a free market with enough money in it there is nothing stopping the ultra wealthy from setting up monopolies by buying out all competitors.
@Wei Chen Yes, in a way. No regulations is bad, too. Modern global capitalism favours large corporations, which have non-free-market ways of eliminating competition. Basically, you get global monopolies or oligopolies, like Alphabet, Apple, or national ones, like Comcast, etc.
Proper free market is very difficult to maintain. Not impossible, just very difficult. Utopian, to be honest – you cannot have govt corruption, you must have very strong protection of the individual (consumer) via contracts, you must have very fair judicial system, very fair executive… We fail on all of those. Good luck getting all that.
That said, regulations tend to destroy their own usefulness, and should all have built-in expiration timers, with re-evaluation.
@Armyfreak name one monopoly that has lasted more than 50 years. Monopolies form yes, but do they stand the test of time?
Thanks for it
You can’t talk to people that don’t want to listen…….and their always right…..just ask them .
*they’re
Their spoon.
Their fork.
A possessive.
They’re? A contraction of the words THEY and ARE.
Hope you’re not home-schooling anyone above the 3rd-grade level, lol.
@NietzscheanMan From one fellow, well-educated grammarian, WELL DONE/SPOKEN!!!
THANKS A LOT
Thank you Sir for such a witty examination of the average human mind.
Yes, we can’t be thinking of people with different opinions, ways of life, etc as idiots, dunces and inferior in any way. If we take the time to talk, no shouting or trying to come out superior, discussion turns out to be way easier when it is done this way, at least for me
I’m so glad you said that, I have my own people calling me stupid because of my beliefs and values. I definitely will think twice before I disagree with others for there viewpoints or beliefs.
I didn’t find many of the recent TED talks valuable, but this was a good one imo.
day start with a smile sir good morning listening great you shared
The world is run by organised crime. Even in “democratic” countries the rich buy enough votes to get what they want.
The current President of USA did not get a majority of votes.
What democracy?
If was in a large company he would be shown the door because of his incompetence.
Good news:-
Our global civilization will fail soon.
A morally bankrupt society will fail.
A world running on Monopoly money is also doomed to fail.
Cheers Gray
Australia
Soon? It’s failing already as we speak
@obsolete optics I agree
The majority is always wrong. It’s good that the minority gets elected, and has power. The masses are a way more dangerous mob than a just a few mobsters that can fit around a table.
The fact that its almost hopeless for most of the world even America to follow simple thought like this.
not only america
**@**1:05** – @**1:12** Brings this entire speech into full circle**
The rest is also quite significant
Thank you.
A timely lecture.
The divide continues to spread.
@The Daily Dose sure does. Filmed it

I dont want to be rich.. i jst dont want to be the mercy of an employer for survival.. universal basic income*
Is that to much to ask?
Nope.

It would be a great idea, but they call that anarchism, socialism, not a democracy?
