I knew Bannon couldn’t be trusted when he claimed the entire Republican party is a libertarian organization that doesn’t live in the real world. He also agrees with Bernie on economics.
I think Bannon was screwed by Wolfe and was not only misquoted in the book, but attacked before he even knew what was written. Don’t forget, the book hasn’t been published yet. The last quote I saw from him was that he backs Trump 100%. I think Trump was triggered prematurely by something he read.

I have seen many speeches by Bannon after he left the White House, and in every one he took Trump’s side. Even now he says he stands with the president.
