i once had access to the archives at the International Institute for Strategic Studies,
(yes i know, no need to say anything) and it gave me the opporunity to read a lot about soviet strategy and understand their view of the world.
NATO and the US has double crossed Russian several times since the fall of the soviet union, What Russia is trying to do is form a legally neutral buffer zone to replace the lost warsaw pact countries, it doesnt want to control these just not have hostile countries acting as operating bases for george soros or cia backed groups. (as happened in the Ukraine)
