I watched it as soon as it came out and I was watching it at 144p. I see now that the quality is up.

Whilst playing a game you are lost to an imaginary world.
Now what is the difference, you may ask? One is hated by the older generation because of them not understanding it.
Most people play video games because, unlike in movies and books, they have a choice on what to do. They can design their imaginary world themself and most of the gamers play things that are unlikely to happen in real life or are just impossible. Why do some people play Fallout? Because it is interesting and you are unlikely to experience it in the real world. When will you ever live in post-apocalyptic america, that is full with savages and murderers? You likely won’t ever experience that.
People tend to prefer video games over books and movies because you can interact with things and most of the time, those people, who play video games, are still as social and as active in the real world, as in the virtual world. The gamers are aware that they still have this whole world to explore, to experience, but also like to explore and experience a virtual world. Gamers are very unlikely to be systemspace members, but even systemspace (and every other normal human being) thinks you should live your live to the fullest – keyword: carpe diem.
ActionmanFX…if you wanna do it, go for it, your choice. We all have our methods of escape. Some drugs or and or sedatives are just more effective than others. I used to be a hardcore gamer, so I know the appeal. Videogames were a major sedative for me a few years ago. I can tell you VR will just be a stronger sedative because it’s simply that more immersive. Tastier bread and more awe inspiring circuses. Oh well. Have fun though!

I’m so happy I DON’T play any kind of video game. My 15 yr old stepson has a flip phone with no internet access and for emergency purposes only. He ONLY uses the computer for homework and is supervised when doing that. Has NO video games!!! Watches VERY LITTLE T.V.!!!!!
Good for you! Even if he rebels later, his brain, intellect and personality with social graces had a chance to develop normally!
Your son’s life must be a living hell. Video games are EVERYWHERE these days; I’d wager a good 80% of males from age 15 to 30 are into video games. Your son is probably dealing with a lot of peer pressure at school. His chances of rebelling are pretty likely;because it’s hard to believe it if your son doesn’t have a single friend that plays video games.
@Cake Technological literacy is one thing but being absorbed into the technology is another. When the grid goes down and all those people with tech addiction are suffering withdrawal, guess what… there’s a lineman or two out there in the weather repairing the wires. Those guys are really living in the real world. But what Alex and others are warning against is the time when we have robots to repair the lines, robots to build the grid, build the cities, etc., etc. because of this mantra “technology is the future.”
Think of this, when the 3D modelling and experience gets really good we will be hooking people up in the hospital first, because it will help the healing process of course, and they can be hooked up to other machines which take care of bodily functions, and shazam, the essential elements of the MATRIX. The scary part is that there is a very good chance we will voluntarily enter the MATRIX , albeit incrementally. And there doesn’t have to be anything bad or evil about the games, the entertainment, etc., just the fact that we abdicate on doing the basics for ourselves to buy the time and convenience to enjoy the fantasy world the technology gives us.
And just maybe, something happens, say an asteroid hit, perhaps not a planet killer, but enough to transform the world for the survivors, and the tech is all gone, that useless, going nowhere person might have the life skills to live and survive, because maybe he was taught how the world works, and how to do something as simple as get his own food from the environment.
Stop adressing his mother in that matter and show some respect to that family, god you are almost a perfect reflection of the worst demon I`ve ever met in life!
She almost destroyed my family completely, all in the right of her “god” of course.

I used to be a gamer… I’m glad I woke up and realized the real game at hand….life… although it shouldn’t be a game but that’s the way the world made it…just one big game. Well time to beat this game… mean while everyone is looking at Alex like… “why isn’t he jack3d in!?@?”

Yes i get playing games can be fun. In fact I’ll be quite honest gaming probably helped my creative mind is a sense lol accuracy and ability to think beyond… anyways. Vr looks very fun and I have tried it before but yes we just have to be able to not be those type of people pretending they are playing GTA In real life.
If I could code for gaming,I would make a game of EXACTLY how this reality is… just to make people think and wake up. The final level would include a enlightening, strong message making people drop the controller wanting more only to realize that life….. is the real game.. like a digital red pill that transitions the data and information into your eyes through the screen via light causing, electrons to run through and neurons to fire causing something to click in your human brain. Then it’s up to you finish the rest of the game. Make some money and use the system against thee enemy and beat the final boss those blood drinking elite. Yes there are real evil people. All I can say is never go to the dark web… there is a reason tv only shows us a lesser evil… now days Facebook will allow us to see the true evil but hey social media is a tool we can use to wake up!

yep, i thought the same thing. I even read the book and even one of the characters who was the best friend of Halliday, who helped him create the oasis, said the same thing. That it should have never been created because it gave people an excuse to check out of reality. And the main reason why their society crumpled was due to neglect and systematic apathy represented at the individual level.
Depends on the type of game though Alex, the ones that are of high quality might increase IQ. They’re few though, most of them are brain dead.

Love David Icke. He can be a little too abstract for some people who want simplistic black and white ideas about reality, but for those who can comprehend he’s great. A brainwashed person would likely not understand most of it though.

This movie is based on a book of the same name, which I thought was actually OK, and it actually has a good message: you can’t run from the real world, no matter how fucked it is and how good the games are. The movie no doubt is going to be very different and not worth seeing, but I recommend picking up a copy of the book if reading the blurb makes it seem like a good read to you. A brief spoiler, this book DOES contain hints to a very Orwellian future that could happen. The book ready player one is part fantasy, and part cautionary tale about how large super corporations could take over the world.

Well I’ll give you an example. I worked in land surveying for over 18 years during the summer we hired college students many taking engineering. Most did not even know how to use a slide ruler or even know what one was. They had to have their scientific calculators to do problems which could be done faster easier and no electricity, with a slide ruler. They knew the formulas but they didn’t know why the formulas worked. So I think this shows my point pretty well. Other countries they use both and have to know why. Many kids rely on there phone, tab, or computer to answer questions from history to math and everything in between. Instead of doing the research they just believe what Wikipedia or Google tells them.
okay see that’s the thing, it’s not the technology that was the issue it was the lack of education as to the how and why the technology works…..in my Algebra class in College I remember I would annoy the entire class cause I kept asking why this specific equation works and to be given an example of a real life application, I stopped after the 3rd day before I started making enemies of everyone and be branded “that annoying kid who won’t stop asking questions and INTERRUPTING(LOL) the class” oh wait… I WAS branded like that. I’m like that, I won’t understand mathematic formulas if I don’t get why they work, like I have this urge to KNOW the inner workings/the foundations/the why it works before I can start using it comfortably, always done more than well in math but only because I instinctively understood why some formulas worked and because I asked about others…all the ones I was never taught how they work are the ones that with time I just forgot entirely.
Funny… because I learned to game reality from video games. I just wanted to play video games, but the globalists and feminists wouldn’t let me, so now I’m going to save the world just like video games taught me.

My family owns a hotel/restaurant in ct thousands of families lost power this weekend and came to us because we have a generator and to see these kids eyes light up when they came in out of the dark was great but when we would say we still don’t have cable and wifi you would think they lost a limb, when we tell them we have board games and books they look at us like we were insane, it was great. Lol
My kind of hotel/restaurant! Recently hubby and I went traveling around our state, we left the tablets behind. We did have a cell phone with us but it was just in case we were on the road and broke down in route to somewhere. It was almost like the good old days before computers.
Video Games have a tough enough time being attacked by SJWs without you guys attacking them too. Majority of gamers I speak to are anti-PC and don’t hate Trump. So why attack potential allies?
