are you going by total money spent? lol look at percentage wise. we spend as much on our military as china and russia. PERCENTAGE WISE. we have a bigger GDP so our money spent is bigger than theirs.

If this is the only reason why the U.S. has all those military bases, then bravo to you :).(Read the mr truth’s first comment, there you can find the real answer and the real reason why the U.S. has all those military bases)
So let me ask you this last question, what is the usefulness / benefit of all those military bases for you and for all other common people in the U.S.?
And if you look at the military spending percentage-wise compared to their country’s GDP the U.S. is spending 3-3.5 times more than China, and if you look only in money, the U.S. is spending 6 times more than China. Or in other words, the U.S. has a bigger military budget than the next 14 biggest military spenders in the world combined.(China + Russia + India + UK + France + … ).

Ok maybe I’m wrong. So explain to me. Let take as an example, comparison between the U.S. and China.(GDP and military spending) I have found these numbers, China’s GDP in 2016 was 11.199 trillion dollars. In 2017, they had 6.8 percents GDP growth, and that is equal to 12.6 trillion dollars GDP in 2017. Their military spending is 225 billions or percentage-wise to their GDP is 0.225/12.6=0.0178(1.8 percents). The new official U.S. military budget is 850bilions (DoD and Non-DoD spendings) and we do not know how large is the black budget. That in percentage-wise to the U.S GDP(which is 19 trillions) is 0.85/19=0.0447(4.5%). What is wrong with my calculation? (4.5/1.8=2.5 times)
