What can we do to face life's most difficult moments with grace?

1. Don't hide or fall into silence thinking you are alone. When something bad happens, we tend to close off and not to talk to anyone because,"they don't understand me, " or "they haven't been through this." But, as harsh as it might sound when you are struggling, the reality is that nothing you are going through right now is unique. One of the greatest ways to cope is to realize you are not alone and to get social support. Call a friend. Go to a support group. You might be surprised how many people care and can help and provide perspective.

2. Define your meaning. When something bad happens, ask, "What does this mean to me?" Find an optimistic meaning for what you are going through, even if it seems like nothing good could come from it. You will get stronger if you decide the meaning of the event is there to teach you something, to allow you to grow, to urge you to change or be kind or take action. What lesson can be learned that will make you better or happier or more successful in the future?

3. Keep your perspective. Remember, you've been through tough times before and your circumstances will change. The struggle will lessen. It will hurt less one day. Trust things will improve. This too shall pass. Even if life sucks right now, you have to believe things will get better, there will be light soon, you will make it through. Remember your blessings and strength and values and dreams… those things will keep you grateful and ready.

4. Keep a vision of the future that draws enthusiasm, excitement and engagement. No matter what, every single day, keep your enthusiasm for the day and for tomorrow alive. You control the meaning you give things, and thus the energy and emotion of your life. Keep a bright future at the forefront of your mind and everyday take at least one step toward it. You can do at least a few things today to move yourself forward. You are stronger than you imagine and a brighter day will be here soon.

  1. Amazing teachings you offer. Thank you for sharing them with people who are willing to learn from them. Have you consider offering them in Spanish? . I have lots of Spanish friends and family who will definitely benefit from them. Thanks again .

  2. I completely agree & I am living proof of it. A couple of years ago I was living in a dark place where I felt trapped in my hellish nightmare, then I made a conscious choice to help myself. I knew no one was going to save me so I took it upon myself to to pull myself out of my own hell that I created in my mind. I recognized that I was overpowered by fear & where there is fear, love cannot exist. I had to teach myself to be strong & learn to redirect my unsettled thoughts into peace. I knew I wanted peace in my life & that became my stepping stone to transformation.

    • That’s powerful. I can relate to that nightmare as well. Many people can tbh. Though, we all can grow stronger from our overpowering personal experiences.

  3. I understand everything you saying Brendon, We all go thought things in life, we all have  lost a family member I’m sure but when is someone as close as your children it’s tough. You see I lost my 2 year old daughter 2 years ago and it was hard on myself and my wife. I was blessed to have had family and friends to support me and love me. It’s was still hard to go back and  live your so call life but we had no choice ,we have a  7 year  old boy to look after. I know there’s other people that have lost their kids and believe I’m in a few Support groups to help. I also found you online and you’re helping me get the life I always wanted to have, even with my Angel. Thank You for speaking the Truth!!!!

  4. A little over six years ago I was diagnosed with epilepsy. It still causes me a lot of trouble, but this video makes sense since as a result of the pain I’ve endured I’m a much stronger and more understanding person than I used to be. Fortunately I might get my brain surgery soon enough after waiting years. The condition has wrecked what many would call the best years of life, but if I recover I’m going to make what’s after much greater. I’ve not given up. I keep hope, and whatever you’re going through, I hope you’ll keep hoping too.

A friend of mine recently hanged himself. It was very sad news, and I felt terrible that I didn’t help him more than I could have done. I hope these few words will help you at the very least, whoever you are. You have a future. Good luck.

  5. Thank you Brendon, as i was watching this video i felt like you were speaking straight to my soul. I had dealt with depression for a number of years and have been struggling to let go of it. Knowing that I am not alone, I have made through it (which I need to give my self credit), and things will get better, gives me the strength to move forward, again 🙂 Thank you.

  6. I lost a best friend for making some stupid decisions, just listening to this video helped me so much, it let me cry something I was holding onto for too long. Thank you. Whatever people say Brendon, whatever happens keep doing what you do. I felt as if no one else in the world understands but you do. I’m going to watch your videos every single morning, mid-day and afternoon for now, that’s my 3 things.

  7. Thank you Brendon, I feel with a loneliness sometimes, so that I often think to leave my relatives and runaway
, I attempted to open lines with them, but unfortunately I reach to closed road. .. I know life needs struggling ans striving to catch our desires…anyway I got a lot of things to support me in advance.

  8. I’ve been waiting the whole day to find out that I failed my exam, but now I know I can cope. Thank you Brendon. I needed this. I’ll retake the exam and pass it 😉
