The school of thought around cancer used to be focused only on the genetic component. But we now know that our environment—the air we breathe, the food we eat, even our relationships—have an enormous cellular impact on our ability to prevent and treat cancer.
I’m excited to sit down with Dr. Jason Fung on this episode of The Doctor’s Farmacy to talk about his amazing work in the field of cancer research and why this environmental component should give us all hope.
Dr. Fung is a physician, author, and researcher. His groundbreaking science-based books about diabetes and obesity, The Diabetes Code, The Obesity Code, and The Complete Guide to Fasting have sold over one million copies and challenged the conventional wisdom that diabetics should be treated with insulin. Dr. Fung is also the co-founder of The Fasting Method, a program to help people lose weight and reverse type 2 diabetes naturally with fasting. His latest book, The Cancer Code: A Revolutionary New Understanding of a Medical Mystery, was just released.
Very happy to hear you speak with Dr Jason Fung … so much better from a dietary perspective. Healthy low cab keto
Both of you guys are awesome and bold and a lot different from so called doctors who have no knowledge about fasting and only follow sop.
You guys are hope and inspiring to millions of your followers. Thank you.
I love Dr jason Fung.
Dr Hyman needs to change his microphone…too much is coming through..breathing etc it’s too close to his mouth I guess
Yup, was thinking the same thing. Lol.
Um Dr Hyman needs a Gate to stop you minor lower sounds
Fung is great and brilliant
For 24 hr fasting what does one do for taking meds? I take meds twice a day.how can I do the 24hr fast?basically take one gro of meds before the fast and the second grp after opening the fast.?but won’t that upset the next med schedule
Medications are a complicated subject. An important factor is focused on what are they for. If you are not already doing intermittent fasting, you should be able to schedule that with your meds.
You will need to work with a Dr. to sort out those details, to implement 24hr+ fasts. You will need a Dr. who will focus on getting you off the medications.
LOVE LOVE DR FUNG!!! Ty Sir!
Thank you Dr Hyman for interviewing this wonderful man
You’re still breathing into your microphone, which is too close and too hot.
Corporations do have a fiduciary responsibility to make financial returns to keep the corporations going, but also for the shareholders. Corporations will lie and cheat for those ends. That being said I am seeing more and more food products in the stores that claim to be Keto but upon reading the labels there are tons of carbohydrates when one takes into account that most people are eating more than one or two meals a day. The funniest (and saddest) I have seen so far has been a loaf of Keto refined-flour bread.
Cancer needs sugar and glutamine in large amounts to survive. Otto Warburg in the 1920’s, was the doctor who originally came up with the theory that cancer cells ferment instead of respirate due to damage of the mitochondria. Cancer cells can’t use ketones for fuel and glutamine is in most foods. If you have Cancer, this is when you want to do extended fasts, forcing your body to run strictly on ketones. You also need to remain inactive during this fast to keep your body from making glucose for your muscles.
I think it’s funny that they talk about paradigm change, but don’t mention in a sentence that there are already treatments with glutamine blockers that cure cancer. Still they spread the sh… that you need to do radiation and chemo.
People must know and demand Dr. Seyfrieds treatments!
Dr Hyman please help! What tests should I insist on when I get my blood draw for A1c? C-peptide, HOMA-IR, C reactive protein, ?
This is a treat two of my favourite innovative doctors! Thank you!

I’ve been a type 1 diabetic since 1970. Today I found out that U-500 insulin is readily available, and the thought of how severe insulin resistance has to be to make that necessary… that’s scary.
When I tell people that I normally eat one meal a day, usually they tell me solemnly and with complete assurance that a diabetic like me needs to eat six times a day. They cannot explain why.
