I am extremely against Alex Jones, he’s an idiot, spews a bunch of hatred and lies just to sell his merchandise and has a rabid following of people that will believe him no matter what.
That being said I was always against removing him from YouTube and other social media, it’s book burning of the 21st century and it’s censorship. Trump is one of the worst presidents we’ve ever had and the impeachment inquiry alone proves it even if there wasn’t an impeachable offense (why is he blocking testimonies of he’s innocent, it only outwardly paints that he’s dishonest) unemployment has skyrocketed while he’s games the unemployment rate down to 3 months (if you are looking for a job for longer than 3 months you’re not in the unemployment rate) and took an axe to the budget. Obama wasn’t perfect but at least he didn’t destroy our relationship with our allies while sucking up to our enemies.
I vote that truth be a priority, but censoring people because they’re liars or hurtful is stupid. It’s a slippery slope, nobody censors flat earthers because they’re woefully uninformed, they let them speak and just ridicule the misinformation being spread.
Censorship, like Trump preventing people from testifying I the impeachment, YouTube shutting down channels for “hate speech” or burning a book proves that you are on the wrong side, even if you aren’t.
Should Alex Jones be silenced? Morally you can argue that his speech was wrong and silencing him is ultimately for the betterment of humanity… But by doing so you legitimize him and prove that you wanted to cover up what he’s saying.
Sandy Hook deniers will have confirmation bias if you take that approach, doesn’t matter what the objective truth is to people, when you silence a source it only proves that what they were saying will harm the truth that you wish to push.

@Jeffrey Santore this is the reason YouTube decided that it was morally superior to censor his misinformation campaign. Why would he taint his platform by selling solutions to problems only he claims exist.
If he was only trying to fund his platform his stories wouldn’t be intertwined with merchandise specifically tuned to solving problems he discussed.
He claims big pharma is poisoning you so he can sell you the antidote. Because you only take in sources that confirm your bias instead of peer reviewing what he says he can blind you.
It’s why the censorship of people capitalizing off extremism is a weird moral argument. Much like the censorship of child pornography, theres moral good for censoring it, but theres also moral problems with it too. Which is the better option? Protecting Alex Jones from proper persecution for being a snake oil salesman by censoring him, or letting him speak and spread lies to conspiracy junkies.
@Jeffrey Santore also Trump appointed the people being arrested for treason. So, yeah, think harder.
