Mainly Fruit, veg and oatmeal, with honey as a quick fix.
‘Dry carbs’ (low glycemic index foods such as pasta, rice, oats, bread etc) are only eaten before mid-afternoon, then ‘wet carbs’ (fruits, berries etc) are consumed in moderation after 3pm – this allows you to sleep like a baby!
1 blow-out meal per week is essential to prevent the body from going into starvation mode.
I hope to do a diet and fitness course as soon as my body is totally fit and I can prove this beyond doubt! 😉

Isn’t it funny how everyone associates the word ‘diet’ with restricting their daily food intake, when it’s original meaning applies to whatever we eat on a daily basis. Just something that has bugged me for too long.
The doctor whos book you are refering to is by, Dr. Dean Ornish. I know a gentleman from my church who had so many arteries ”flat as ribbons” that the doctors could not help him. He simply did not have any arteries healthy enough to ”harvest” from in order to repair the worst of his arteries. I told his wife about the Dr. Dean Ornish book I’d purchased for my husband and myself years ago, as my husband also had a narrowing of the arteries. This woman and her husband had been doing their own research (mostly online) and suggestions from friends. Since his immediate life was in serious danger they took very seriously what method to choose to try. Since Dr. Ornish is the only doctor who has PROVEN a way to open/unclog narrowing of the arteries, they looked into it and went with his method. It is a very strick change from their norm, BUT, it works. I appologize for not remembering the title of Dean Ornish’s book , but I’m sure if you google his name that info will be available. P.S My church friend ? He went from breathing heavy after the slightest exertion , constant fatigue, dizzy/passing out, etc. to (2years later [which, by the way, the doctors had only given him a few months 11/2 years ago] he now does a slow/moderate JOG alternated with brisk walking 6 – 8 miles every morning.
