Now my interpretation of Genesis 6-8 where the waters and the firmament are discussed, the firmament is space/the heavens and it was created right smack in the middle of the waters dividing them, creating the water below (the seas) and water above the heavens. And if you do a search on here for BBC International, the guy on there, Dr. Kim, is a great speaker on explaining Bible verses. Hi Christy, When I first researched this I came to the same conclusion as you had; So, I decided to go into the original language in which the bible was written: The New Testament was written in Greek and the Old Testament in Hebrew.
The Bible has been translated so many different times, I wanted the original “root” language to help me fully understand once and for all without anyone’s personal interpretation.
I am a truther, seeking the established truth and not the modified truth or someone’s rendition. I am very careful when reading the NIV, KJV and other versions of the bible and have now come to the conclusion of going to the “original” text and rooting it out from there for my own peace of mind.
My Research philosophy comes from William Cooper’s quote of being a Truther:
“Read everything, listen to everybody, Believe nothing; unless you can prove it with your own research.”
Genesis 1 in HEBREW: Gen 1:1 Berěshith – bara – Elohim – eth – “hashamayim” – v’eth – ha’arets
Genesis 1in ENGLISH: Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
The Hebrew word “hashamayim” (found in the Hebrew Bible Genesis 1:6-8) is constructed of two parts: sham (שָׁמַ) derived from Akkadian samu meaning “sky” or “lofty”, and Hebrew mayim (מַיִם) meaning “water”. In Genesis 1:6 Elohim separated the “water from the water”. The area above the earth was filled by sky-water (sham-mayim) and the earth below was covered by sea-water (yam-mayim).
I ask this of a teacher years ago: “Why is the sky blue?”, He couldn’t give me the answer……….. From the original text it is as follows:
Why the sky is blue, it is due to the presence of water in the heavens; “Sky-Waters”. (sham-mayim)
It makes common sense to me. I shared this with the teacher years later; he called me after a month of his own research and his answer was that it makes perfect sense.
I hope it helps, when in doubt of any interpretation, go to the original language and assess it for yourself. PEACE!

After reading the bible, I have come to the conclusion that we live under Gods firmament. Space is nothing but noise, in order confuse Creation. Not that important, or a focus of mine, but a good way to hide creation and replaced it with evolution. All though evolution has been disproved through the Fibonacci sequence as it proves intelligent design. Also DNA proves that there is no links between monkey, man and fish?
