Hey Kino, I’m a bendy yogi who has a tendency to hyper extend my elbows in both of these variations. Do you have any tips to avoid that while keeping the integrity of the pose?
Thanks for all your vids Kino. 🙂 What do you recommend for a person who even after 2 years has difficulty opening the shoulder girdle in the simpler version of Prasarita Padottanasana C and can’t get their hands to touch the floor in Halasana and Karnapidasa! I have developed flexibility everywhere else but in that shoulder opening.
Thank you so much for the suggestions!
Hi Kino I’m a little confused. SO I assume the latter shoulder rotation is the one that we want to get to. But I’m always taught to do the first one. So to get to the external rotation of the shoulder, do we first come out as the first one shown then only turn out our palm like in second action shown?
ahhh. In a led class, I’ve often heard the cue “reverse” in this posture. I’ve been wondering what it meant, and now I know. Thanks. 🙂
Hi Kino, I don’t understand how to keep the shoulder blades wide apart in this pose. As I interlace the fingers and lift the arms, the chest feels open and the shoulder blades naturally come to each other. Am I doing it wrong? Thank you in advance! xxx T
I enjoy doing this posture, but when I bring my shoulders towards the floor I usually have a pretty intense popping sensation throughout my middle and upper spine. Is this normal for some people? It doesn’t really hurt, but I am wondering if it’s something to be concerned about. Sometimes it actually feels like the vertebrae are moving. Sometimes it actually feels pretty good
I must need a lot of good releases then because it happens often 🙂
You’re amazing! I’m coming to see you in Thailand! Can’t wait! 😀
Another great video Kino. Do you have a video for opening shoulders? Your hip openers are great, but I have really tight shoulders too. What do you suggest to open up the shoulders as well? I hope you put out a video for that too.
Hi Kino, a lot of teachers say squeeze your shoulder blades together in this posture – it feels like they naturally want to do this so do we keep this naturally happening with a concious effort not to squeeze together? Would this squeezing action prevent the upper spine from lengthening due to undue compression?
