  1. Hey Kino!
I was just wondering if could talk about the sacrifices you had to make after coming back from your first trip to Mysore so that you could get back, and also what your home practice/lifestyle was like during that time in comparison to before you took your first trip.
I recently returned from my first trip to Mysore and I’m not living with my parents anymore so saving money is a bit of an issue and I need some inspiration to keep me on the right track so I can come back and study with Saraswathi.
I know it will take me a while to save up and there are other options of authorized teachers all over the world but there is something very special about Mysore.
Thank you for everything you do. You’re a huge inspiration in my life and I feel like you are my guru in a sense even though we have never met. You have helped me to become stronger and inspired to do my practice almost every day and I have the upmost gratitude for you.
    Love, Gina

    • +Gina Falcetta  Actually I moved back in with my parents to save money between my first trips to Mysore. Just the cost of rent alone for a few months will get you back to India (ticket and everything included!). I also didn’t buy anything other than what was necessary so I saved every penny I made and put it into my next trip to India.

  2. Gracias muchas gracias por todo lo q me haz enseñado en tan poco tiempo. Soy una persona bendecida por tus enseñanzas. Creo q mi viaje debe ser a Miami

  3. Hi Kino,
Thank you for sharing and inspiring so many of us.
Could you share with me what to watch out for if I have carpal tunnel syndrome?
Recently my right palm has been tingling intermittently and it’s very frustrating. I felt that this is disrupting my practice. I tried not to let it bother me but it gets at me. It would be great to hear what you have to recommend on this 🙂 Thank you so much

  4. about teachers… i was practicing at home, from an old book, no teacher neither yoga studio that period in my place(i live in Chios an island in Greece) i was more focused on my children than yoga and the years passed, kids grew up and my love for yoga also. I decided to go to a teacher training a few years before, to learn more. My belief is that you can gain something from every teacher but from Kino i learn how to do backbents in a proper way,how to aproach various postures, because of your videos i tried asanas that seem too difficult. You are an inspiration for us Kino, you give your knowledge, your passion, your joy and your nice smile to all of us. Thanks for the help that i received in this journey,be blessed, be blissed, be happy, be whatever you wish to be. Thank you!!!

  5. Kino, this is exactly what I needed right now! Your words couldn’t be more right for my heart. Thank you for your inspiration!

  6. Is great that you talk about this subject, because I’ve been having trouble finding my ashtanga teacher. I don’t know many but I have met ashtanga teachers with big ego and that seem to be bent on showing that they know more than your old master, some are bothered because you do something they did not teach you, that gives me me a little sad because Yoga on the contrary should be a method of Peace and harmony.

I think the key word you said is humility, I went to a class with you in San Francisco and felt in only a few hours that you were very wise and really good at what you do and still super-humble and simple, which charm me, btw this time you recommended me to Magnolia and started with her recently, I have not got a comprehensive review, but the place and the vibe is cute.

Maybe you could suggest in Mysore to teach some humility, to not be so competitive, they are not opposing teams, are all on the same team, love, get along well, share love, wisdom and experiences.

I went with Sharath to LA to guided classes and he said that all the students got along very well, it will be great if they will also show that when they are out of Mysore, because also there felt a bit of that rivalry and groups and I think that give a bad name to this type of practice.

Thanks for the advice and enjoy your time there.

  7. Hi Kino! I think a very interesting topic that I know I would personally love to watch is Living the Yogis life: where you do a few meals ( I would love to know of some vegan/vegetarian meals you make), snacks, drinks etc…. (: Namasté

  8. Two years ago while I was at work, my ex-husband left us 4 (two toddlers, a 6 yrs old back then and me). No argument, no fights, just took off, his “reasons” were expressed later but they are so invalid that are not worth sharing. So my journey started, I have been with the support of my parents the main care giver for my daughters. I didn’t really know how to cope with such a situation but through yoga I have learned that life sometimes has a way to teach us its lessons and we have to have an open heart to learn. Through Yoga I have become the best version of my self  (I am still a daily work in progress) which means also becoming best mom/dad I could possibly be. It turns out, I knew I was in a very unhealthy relationship, holding on just for my kids and for my fear of being alone with them and for other fears such as what people would say. Everyday in my practice I learn to let go, to surrender, to get rid of fears and to know myself and find out the answers in my heart. Perhaps one day you could talk about how yoga can be and is so helpful in times of great distress in life. Thank you for the inspiration…. You have touched so many hearts Kino. Namaste

  9. Hi Kino!I learned yoga from you and Briohny for 2 years through YouTube and have finally come to Mysore to learn Asthanga yoga. The experience was magical and has really changed my life !! Thank you for guiding us. You are my everyday inspiration. I really am grateful to have you as my teacher. Hope i can meet you in person someday! ^_^

  10. Hi Kino, what is your take on the safety for women to travel to India? My wish is to dive to a more in-depth study of yoga and I know Mysore is one great place to help doing so. I visited India in 2012 and traveled from Mumbai up… never to Mysore, and sadly had a few nasty incidents of sexual harrasment.. And I dressed modestly and took pre-cautions.. Could you address this subject in your videos? thank you in advance, Gauri.
