Island and coastal nations need to protect their waters in order for our oceans to stay healthy. But they often have lots of debt and aren't able to prioritize ocean protection over other needs. Mark Tercek and his team at The Nature Conservancy see a way to solve both problems at once: buying a nation's debt at a discount and restructuring it to give them lower payments, in exchange for the government's commitment to protect its coastal areas. The best option is to simply make humanity extinct, this doesn’t have to be a violent massacre… simply sterilize the entire species.
At which point *all* of the earths problems are instantly solved.
The problem isn’t the fact that we are killing earth, it’s that are killing ourselves.
We don’t have the power yet to wipe out life on earth. We could nuke every inch of the earth and life will still return. We only have the power to wipe ourselves out.
SteriliIng ourselves is literally the opposite of what our goals are.
The quality of our air effects land and water. One large cruise ship can use up to 80k gallons of fuel in day leaving a carbon footprint in eight months that all the cars in the world do in one year. Last time I checked cruise ships are on the ocean. What do you plan to do about those?

This sounds too much like what the IMF has been nefariously doing to third world nations. I would think any nation would start running if they heard this proposal out of past experience. Hope this program is an honest one…..
Nature Conservancy is a very reputable organization but I see your point.
“Throwing money at it”? That won’t stop the effects of rising ocean temperatures, acidification, etc. Some things are beyond an economic fix.
