Armando, If the “white race” is becoming a minority, that’s just a consecuence of genetic diversity and not so much as the fact that “your people” is being opressed. So, if you are trying to be a smartsy pants, you could at least have a better argument than “I feel opressed”.
Of course it’s not too delightful to have the “diversity” label so tacked on lately, because it ends up feeling forced on us instead of inclusive. But, in the end, is all in an attemp to generate a society of equity for everyone.
So… No, Armando, you don’t get to feel opressed cause you are not. It’s everyone else in the table having their time for their voice to be heard.
I think there are lots of people doing that. Just look through the dozens of fashion magazines, the plethora of fashion outlets. And this is more than fashion. It’s art.

What a powerful and articulate voice for the reclamation of identity. And what beautiful use of color and texture to create art as wearable self-expression. All cultures have had their own methods of self-adornment. This designer is a true artist, capturing both lost history and the unwritten future in fabric. Gorgeous and meaningful. I feel so honored that he chose to share it with the world through TED.
This TED Talk by Walé Oyéjidé is very inspiring and beautiful to see. I have visited the website http://www.ikirejones.com many times just to see the art called fashion and the fashion that is art. The designs are amazing and have influenced my opinion about the powerful history and legacy of the African continent. I can’t wait to see how the designs evolve over time.
