Sometimes you feel annoying with such fake smile and priceless speech!
Khaalid Cilmi Nuur I dont get that at all from this video but in general, you have to understand the reason ppl do that, the “fake” smile, its a gift to others. It says, Im really sad, on the verge of tears, depressed etc. But the world doesnt deserve that from me, customers, clients, friends, family. Im gonna smile at you through my pain. You dont deserve a frown or the negativity Im feeling, because its contagious. Ppl who have to “fake” smiles are in pain and grief and sadness and suffering and YET, they want to spread a smile and not a frown. Some food for thought.

Dislikes because she’s Nigerian? If you didn’t like that, there are some serious issues going on. She speaks the truth. I spoke up about the truth of Anglo men coming here to Thailand to become wife tourists and I almost got fired. Truth hurts, but it’ll set you free!

The first 2 min of her speech are extremely vague and self-righteous (her book is called I’m Judging You for christ’s sake).
She doesn’t reach the thesis of her speech until around 6 minutes, after going over her vacation photos that 80% of the world’s population could never dream of taking, white or otherwise…

Put an inspirational comment – zero dislikes. Put a comment that strikes the core of a ton of anglos around the world = troll city. Haha. You guys are too funny.
However, he’s from Nigeria, correct? We can bring up the racial injustices towards Nigerians around the world. Let’s not try to ignore that there will be that anonymous troll that posts, “is she the Nigerian princess that sends me emails?”
Oh, and for the pseudo professors on here who try speaking subjectively about her speech, this isn’t the 1950’s anymore. Public speaking has evolved completely. You name a great speaker from your era and I’ll name a dozen that trumps that one. Go on. 🙂

Arsenio, people dislike the video for a lot of reasons. I’m sure being black and saying things like “speaking truth to power” had a lot to do with some of them. People might dislike because her empowering experiences were mostly wealthy hobbiest adventures. A lot of people dislike any Ted talk. You can look at any talk on here and it’ll have as many or far more dislikes.
Being Nigerian probably has the least to do with it. The woman is obviously not an e-mail spammer. I mean, you have a black woman talking about “speaking truth to power” on a website haunted by Donald Trump supporters.. and even most of them like the video. 95% likes! That’s pretty incredible.

I love how she conducted this session. Perfect amount of humor, references and inspiration. The topic has been spoken about often, but her delivery of the topic was rather convincing and was very relatable.

Totally agree, nothing special. It’s just a person who understood that she has a liberty of speaking and being with all the consequences which come with. That her voice can be heard or criticized, can bring a lot of people to think about themself, or totally ignored.
This is living as a free person who realize all of the sudden what liberty is.

I’m an expert in making myself just comfortable enough for a while, then I feel guilt and disappoint that overrides the feeling of comfort so I take the next bit of action to get back to comfort. It’s so frustrating! Can anyone relate?
every human being on this planet. Our specie works like that. We stay until we leave. Danger is what we run away from, the “uncomfortable zone”, is a danger zone, there is a reason why we don’t want to jump from a perfectly working plane.
