By loading kids with high expectations and micromanaging their lives at every turn, moms and dads aren't really helping. At least, that's how Julie Lythcott-Haims sees it. With enthusiasm and wry humor, the previous Dean of Freshmen at Stanford makes the case for moms and dads to stop defining their kids's success via grades and test ratings. Rather, she says, they need to concentrate on providing the earliest idea of all: unconditional love.
