@Ry Bohm What technology is going to let us cut our emissions in half in ten years? AI = ANI = machine learning algorithms. These are a double edged sword as they also accelerate oil extraction by helping oil companies find new reserves with Big Data.
There is no way to meet these goals with technology alone. This is wishful thinking, plain and simple.
@Wei Chen I think you are far more tied to your identity re: a knee-jerk dislike of perceiving you’ve been “told what to do” – so much so, that logic & the urgency of preventing the destruction of our only home comes second – despite being in everyone’s best interests NOT to let our only home take a massive dump & simply die.
That makes me sad.
There’s nothing to be politicised about the URGENCY here.
But it WAS politicised- wrongly so – cos of Al being someone who ran in an election against GWB.
People who happen to be Democrats can also care about the planet without it having ANYTHING to do with politics.
This is an emergency.

Even if you dont believe in climate change, electric cars are way cooler and cleaner. I mean who likes dirty exhaust fumes in there towns and cities? Nobody.
Same with power stations. Solar is cool, vast fields of solar panels is like something out of blade runner. Fossil fuels are lame ,dirty and dead.

@Arcux Don’t expect most boomers to understand the full picture of the future of electric cars as being completely autonomous, reducing travel time, increasing vehicle speeds, no traffic jams, extremely low accident rates etc. Thinking outside the box is okay too.

When you look at the dislike ratio, you know the video was posted on some Facebook group.
I think the dislike ratio comes from the fact that al gore is a complete lier.
Obviously climate change is a huge issue for our species. But he went full witch hunt, and was fundamentally wrong on all of his talking points.
So to have him even be offered a forum to speak on at this point means that people may still actually listen to him, and then our society will keep getting the wrong answer on our current climate science issue.
His approach to a flat tire on the highway scenario is to change out the entire drive train on your car. How about we pull over and just change the flat tire Mr.Gore?
It probably has more to do with Gore and his lies concerning the ice core charts, among many others.
That “Planet of the Humans” documentary threw a lot of shade on Gore.

Agreed. Read the science from actual peer-reviewed scientists, not organizations that call Al Gore “man-bear-pig-boy” because they are staffed by uneducated children.
We should, however, listen to the people who tell us that we need to use primary sources. You know, like Al Gore.
I know climate change is true and I care about it, but green energy isn’t as clean as we are made to believe
it maybe not the best but i think its a stepping stone, until we can have the technological advance to harness energy from space.

Me too. If we could get the public to stick to reading/listening to the experts, much of the disinformation would go away. Heck, getting rid of energy funded organizations like Heartland is much of he battle.
