Christian Benimana wants to build a network of architects who can help Africa's booming cities flourish in sustainable, equitable ways — balancing growth with values that are uniquely African. From Nigeria to Burkina Faso and beyond, he shares examples of architecture bringing communities together. A pan-African movement of architects, designers and engineers on the continent and in diaspora are learning from and inspiring each other, and Benimana invites us to imagine future African cities as the most resilient, socially inclusive places on earth.

I love your speech…. I hope we can make it someday
We shall call it “THE GRAND MUDHUT”
This comment demeaned you more than the gentleman on the video or the people of the African nations.
You must be fun at parties
lmao
The bricks shall be made using only the strongest manure
Probably better then steel, since fire can appearently melt steel scyscrapers… Well at least 3 times ever in known history, all on one day: 9/11.
ForrestSCS Nice!
Working on becoming an African electrical engineer. Once I’m done studying in Scotland I’ll be heading back to Africa. There I’ll try to make a difference.
Han Swolo I’m African if I didn’t go back to assist then I’d be allowing western society to do things for Africa. But if i did I’d be wasting my skills? Makes sense
osemudiame123 never said you’d be wasting your skills. Do what you want
osemudiame123 Good, go back, help your people. best wishes to you.
Thank heavens for western culture and its universities where you can learn these things
Han Swolo lol idiot stick to your memes
WE BUILT DEM PEARMIDZ AND SHIET
If the population of Africa is going to double in 30 years, perhaps a program to encourage birth control would be a good direction to move resources.
“If the population of Africa is going to double in 30 years, perhaps a program to encourage birth control would be a good direction to move resources.”
Tell me how well that worked in China the one child program… It created more problems than it solved.
Half the kids are going to die from malnutrition anyway
I would hazard to guess that over half of population has no access to BC. If encourage and was available, the growth could be at a more sustainable rate.
Your comparison to China and the 1 child policy is laughable.
The number of children a couple must have, on average, to sustain (not grow) the population of Africa, is about 3 to 6 depending on area.
The time of women being baby factories has long past in most of the world. Sorry to tell you…
Level Joe Demographic transition dictates for developing economies high birth rate and birth control does not trump economics and logic. More children = more income therefore it is beneficial. Only in stage 3 and 4 does this change.
Do dei kno da wei?
I’m sure better than you would
to know da wae you need ebola
Reading through these comments is so sad. It was an inspiring speech, and those designs are honestly so cool.
I wonder how much western aid they are going to spend on these, or shall I say waste.
Eating food is so cool
funny how you talk about Western Aid when your whole country was built off of the labour of Africans
That is amazing. I am so proud that Africa and all it’s potential will actually manifest itself in architecture. Africa has a very bright future ahead, no matter what anyone says. Africa will in the future rise to become a powerful continent.
No matter how much anyone tries to deny it, it’s true 🙂
Maybe they should try feeding themselves before building
I really hope people like this guy can help African countries learn from the mistakes of the West and China and grow sustainably in the future. Maybe they can skip the smog and all and go straight to clean energy sources
very bright compared to what?
sorry they cant be bright since they are all black
I hope you are right. 😀

Great video, cancerous comment section as expected.
D-mn thanks for warning me. What’s wrong with people. Ignorance. Anyway yes – great video. But I think population control needs to be a solution *alongside* what Christian talks about
SPIT ON DE NON BELIVAH
Self-righteous commenters, as expected.
lol so many insecure neo-nazis in the comments section. Its funny that they think that anyone still takes them seriously, you can almost feel their frustration bleeding through in their comments.
Decus they all dont know the wea
All memes aside, he’s brilliant. More innovators are what Africa needs.
Best of luck to everyone working on this
I loooooove Africa
