Short term? They are fked. They have created the perfect situation to be replaced. They literally threw away their future. Facebook is doing the same. Youtube isnt seen as dangerous and corrupt as facebook. Wait until EU Article 13 and 11 make youtube ppintless in Europe. Those people trying to gain international perspective, carry out research or just find something knew, wont be able to. They will get bored and leave too. Life in an echo chamber is not fun.
They didn’t “lose” 70 billion. That’s just how much was cut off the stock market cap from the drop. But all the same, it’s funny to see YouTube slowdown due to it’s own algorithmic manipulation ans censorship.
Google loses almost a billion dollars a year, alphabet if you want to go by the parent company name. There might have been a point very early on where they were profitable but I don’t think so they definitely have not been profitable since 2008
Yes alphabet is a giant indeed. My main point though is they should address the thumbnail of this video is because it’s simply not accurate for anyone that understands financial information. Change it to “Market cap tanked 70 million”…or “Parent company’s stock loses 70 billion of value after huge drop”….etc etc
+Chris Primer They handled the PR situations that came their way horribly, and then used algorithm changes which limited engagement. It’s their own fault. So she takes some blame for sure being CEO of Youtube. That’s just the way the market works, wither it’s her fault directly or not.

+Jordan Parsons true there is a big difference between a 70 million dollar market cap devaluation and what happened with say Disney on the movie solo where they actually lost 220 million dollars after distribution and advertising. In the case of the former it means you can sell the company for less or Finance less using the company as leverage and in the case of the latter it’s money actually spent that didn’t bring in a return
