Minnesota Democrat Ilhan Omar, a Muslim immigrant from Somalia and a newly elected U.S. representative, is facing backlash for her inconsistent stance on the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign against Israel.
In a statement to the Muslim Girl blog days after the midterm election, her campaign made it clear that the congresswoman-elect supports the movement.
“The statement marked a stark reversal from Omar’s previous position on BDS. Prior to the election, Omar told Minnesota Jews that she was opposed to the boycott movement.”
“I think that the particular purpose for it is to put pressure, and I think that that pressure is really counteractive,” she said at the time. “Because in order for us to have a process to getting to a two-state solution, people need to be willing to come to the table.”
Omar went on to say that the BDS campaign “stops that dialogue” and is “not helpful in getting that two-state solution.”
As Forward reported, the editor of a Jewish news site contacted Omar to discuss the confusion surrounding her position.
“My position has always been the same,” she claimed. “In America sometimes you have to say certain things to get elected.”

The soon-to-be lawmaker expounded on her pro-Palestinian views during her interview with Muslim Girl.
“For me, that particular issue really is about making sure that we are people who understand that there is oppression happening, and speak to that as you would for issues that are safe,” she said. “Israel never had a right to the land they now occupy. We as muslims must use whatever course is open to us to further Palestinian right to take back their land.”
Omar has also received criticism for her antisemitism expressed in tweets from 2012.

Eric, France was better off with a monarch. A monarch would not have given the sovereignty of his country to the EU and he would have had controlled borders. Europe now has what is worse than having a king. Democracy has failed because the politicians were bought by the rich and powerful. In regards to China gaining economically, they import resources to produce items to sell back in the US. To suggest that they could reverse this process and it would still function at a level to retain a sustaining economic windfall doesn’t seem practical for a point gained in this discussion. It’s like any business, there are more workers sure, but they don’t own any of the business proprietarily and are reduced therein enough to never stall it or exceed or.
Rare Earth Metals will be an interesting potential for China but rarity strangles a larger population, and they won’t be the only players in that market whom also own large swathes of lands with excessive populations ie India and Pakistan with their interesting capabilities to reduce reuse and recycle taken to whole cities level (if they wish to focus the rare earth metals instead of plastics and precious metals for instance)

I’ve seen Lior on many shows – X22 spotlight, SGT report and others. Very smart guy and, from what I know, he called out ETH before anyone else did. Off topic, I like his emphasis on personal responsibility, instead of relying on government. We have an unpredictable President, who isnt afraid to make big changes, but that brings with it lots of friction.

There’s no split, no moderation, no deals, just I win it ALL and you lose EVERYTHING. Few real life scenarios work like that. Most are NON-zero sum. Sure, there are still “losers”, but it’s in relative terms, meaning you win more than the other guy but the other guy still won something too.
