The sad thing is they believe average guys like him are literal Nazis for simply questioning the rationality of their beliefs. When I was in college the same thing happened. It didn’t matter how genuine I was, I was still labeled a racist, misogynist bigot. So I stopped caring. Now I openly espouse my political beliefs without worrying about what my brainwashed peers think. I’d rather be right than liked.
