SUMMARY:
——————–

How do you balance taking care of yourself and others without sacrificing your dreams or suffering burning out? Here are four strategies:

1. Focus on your circle of influence:

With all the texts, emails and requests you get every day, it can feel like you have to reply to everybody. But you don’t. Instead, be incredibly clear about who are the people in your life you most deeply care for and those who need your greatest amount of quality time, service or leadership. These are the priorities in your circle of influence and you should give those people the most focused attention. Learn to say no to anyone not inside your circle, at least at first until you know you won’t overcommit yourself at the cost of your circle and yourself. Don’t let random people or their false emergencies knock you off path from serving those you’ve already committed to.

2. Stop micromanaging and start empowering:

You don't have to do everything for others. People don't need to be micromanaged. When you switch your mindset from needing to take care of everybody and every little thing for them, to empowering others to take care of themselves, you get massive amounts of time back and a renewed sense of control and aliveness in your own life. If you choose to help people, as quickly as possible set them up to win without you. That must be your strategy from the outset.

3. Automate more:

Outsource or automate things that don't matter, bring you joy, need your unique focus and attention. The tiny things you *think* you have to do can usually be automated or handled by others or modern tools, apps and systems. Once you set up the little things to run automatically, you save time and can return to what matters most.

4. Give people quality time:

What people want from us isn't all our time; they want the time they have with us to matter. They want their interactions with us to be authentic, energized, heartfelt. When you're with people, make sure you give them quality time. Giving someone just twenty minutes of full attention and energy is worth four hours of half-hearted attention. Make the time you have with others count.

  1. wonderful Brendon….
I love the power u have on your videos dude… Right now I’m 18 about a year watching you and changed drastically that I can’t expain.
I would really like to watch a video from you about ” How to get used to a rutin program that we put for ourselves in order to succeed? ” couse you said in order to succeed we have to get rid of the distractions and have ACTION and of course an everyday program which might get frustrating & boring sometimes and my question is that in THAT situation what must we do to still be in track and follow the program and not ruin it….
    TNX ALOT 🙂

  2. Excellent information.Any suggestions for what a person can do if the expectation of or the demand of the family is to take charge of everything-

  3. Empowering vs Micromanaging. I love that concept. That definitely is a time saver and makes the person far better off!

  4. Stay at home father of two (both under the age of 5). Going to try empowering in stead of managing by teaching how to make a peanut butter & jelly sandwich.

  5. Brendon can you make a video on worthiness. A process we can do to feel more worthy. Idk if you have yet. can i get the link if he has please. Thank you

  6. Hey Brandon,
I think you never gonna read this, but i just have to share this with you, hopfully you’ll see this.
I’m currently reading your book “the charge”. I read the first eight chapters. A few minutes ago I finished chapter 8. And it was the most inspiring, fascinating and powerful thing I ever did. I suddenly felt something that I never felt before (or maybe I just wasn’t concious enough to feel it before). It was a feeling of absolute presence in the moment, mixed with motivation, power, the will to change something and 100s of other positive feelings. I am absolutely sure that this was a spark of the charged life. This experienced took me to another level and maybe everyone else who reads this might think I am crazy, but I am sure that everyone who is living the charged life is feeling the same. I now know how great life can be and I will do everything to achieve a charged life. Brandon, I just want to thank you for giving me the inspiration I needed to feel that (it was triggered by your words from page 156, to page 157 followed by the words of John F. Kennedy).
I will never foget this moment and even though you might not read this, I will meet you one day, when I am a successful person and I will tell you my story which begins with your book. I will tell you about this comment and I’ll be proud because I really made it.

  7. Hello Brendon(sir),
I’ve recently started watching ur videos, like from last night. My exams are coming up and I have a huge responsibility towards my family. I was always a above average student getting A’s mostly and A. but in college I’ve really struggled, came to a new city and am kinda lost. Now my times almost up and i need to get back on track. But everything seems impossible.
So I would like some content specially for the college and high school students.
Love you videos! keep it up!

  8. Amen!! Quality time over quantity. I tell people be present. Get off their phone or whatever their doing and engage with their love ones. It means a lot when you know someone is a good listener. Then friendship, relationship blossoms to even more. I appreciate this video!! Thanks Brandon!
