After the devastating rebel invasion of Freetown in 1999 and the Ebola epidemic in 2014, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, mayor of the city, refused to be paralyzed by her frustration with the status quo. Instead, she used her anger as a catalyst for action. In this inspiring talk, she shares how she transformed her city by taking the risks necessary to bring about dramatic change — and shows how you can find power in your dissatisfaction.

  1. Well, to be perfectly honest in my humble opinion without being sentimental, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in distinct perspective and without condemning anyone’s view and by trying to make it objectified and by considering each and everyone’s valid opinion I honestly believe that I vividly don’t have anything to say. Thank you

    • Just remember Ted Talks are heavily vetted by the Left and there are no differing opinions here at Ted. They all come from Leftist idealogies..

Even when they talk about the political Right, even when shills pretend they’re on the political Right. They’re not. They’re all biased and nothing is objective. Nothing is based on facts and logic. It’s all based upon feelings, emotions, anecdotal evidence and Leftist narratives that don’t hold up in debate. Which is why they censor the Right.

Ted Talks are straight up PROPAGANDA.

  2. Great talk from a woman able to escape the horrendous situation in the country she grew up in..nothing but respect for someone actually been through a hard life instead of just reading about it..

  4. Dissatisfaction is one of many negative emotions. “Negative” emotions serve a purpose. They are trying to relay a message to the conscious mind. People run into problems when they fall to hear the message and become consumed by the negative state or they ignore the negative emotion altogether and try to be “happy all the time”.
The message of negative emotions is always about some type of change that needs to be made. Either one’s perception needs to change, or one’s mindset, or (as in the case in this video) a change in a person’s actions.
