To get into it (to answer the other comments) find native milkweed to your area, get a couple, sit them outside and wait, they’ll come along eventually. Milkweed is a host plant AND a nectar plant (think house and food) so it’s good to have a mix of both host plants (milkweed) and nectar plants (food for butterflies)
