Africa needs engineers, but its engineering students often end up working at auditing firms and banks. Why? Kamau Gachigi suspects it's because they don't have the spaces and materials needed to test their ideas and start businesses. To solve this problem, Gachigi started Gearbox, a makerspace and hardware accelerator that provides a rapid prototyping environment for both professionals and people with no formal engineering background. In this forward-thinking talk, he shares some of the extraordinary projects and innovations coming out of his Kenyan fab lab.

I agree. But few would want to give up the freedom to have kids and they’re right not to. There is no right solution to this.
blabla blabla There is one cruelty free, very cheap solution: condoms. But seriously, improved education + better economic conditions will make their birth rate fall in due time. I do agree that their current birth rate isn’t sustainable at all.
I think some global level rule should be brought by UNO to force stop the population disaster in Africa.
The population problem is here in the north, we are using far more land than people in Africa, just because we want to eat meat, we clear out forests, emmit green house gases (meat industry= more than all transportation combined).
It’s a distribution problem first of all rather than a population problem. Learn about meat industry in the documentary “cowspiracy” and I’m sure you’ll have a better, more nuanced and accurate vision of the problem.
