Drinking calcium-rich milk strengthens your bones — but it's not the only thing you can do for a strong and healthy skeleton. Dr. Jen Gunter digs deep into the three layers of bone to explain why they weaken as we age and shares what you can do to maintain a healthy frame for years to come.
Think you know how your body works? Think again! Dr. Jen Gunter is here to shake up everything you thought you knew — from how much water you need to drink to how often you need to poop and everything in between. This TED original series will tell you the truth about what's *really* going on inside you. (Made possible with the support of Oura)

A Harvard study followed 72,000 women over two decades and found no evidence that drinking cows milk can prevent bone fractures or osteoporosis. You can get Calcium in so many other foods.
@Naveen : both that and meat got from animal friendly places , I know some people like that .
@Rajesh Venki But animal friendly places, by definition, shouldn’t kill animals right? Whether you kill in one shot or whatever..
Well, just irregular menstruation can destroy your bones. So that study isn’t informative enough to represent some general rule for all people.
@M M you think you know more than Harvard scientists? Interesting
@Priscilla So I mean it somehow? Kek. I wonder, if you use this misleading tactic on purpose or not.
It’s not me being arrogant here, actually.
Nido is all i need for my bones and no body is gonna tell me a damn thing
I’m loving this series! More from Dr. Gunter, please.
This series is great, informative and enjoyable.
I agree. I’ve been really enjoying them.
The countries with the highest cow milk/dairy intake also have the most people with Osteoporosis.
India like counties , still per capita drink less milk
You are amazing doctor
And *phosphorus.* Didn’t address the role of phosphorus in maintaining bone health. Taking calcium supplements can upset phosphorus balance and—paradoxically—make bones weaker! Natural foods are the best.

Milk and Red meat weaken your bones.
Very well put together. Informative, interesting, relevant. Thank you
Milk industry still pushing its agenda huh! “Buy more milk they say, it’ll keep you healthy..”
Seems pretty obvious that adult humans don’t need to breast feed off a different species of mammal for bone health.
I love her
This videos are so interesting and approachable.
