In addition to sowing chaos, creating division amongst the people mitigates our power to a large degree. It’s easier for government to manage discontent when the affected people are politically sequestered within a narrow ideology, or pitted against other groups,parties, and individuals whose ideas may not align. I wish we could put aside this team mentality for a little while. I would presume that nearly all of Americans feel that Congress does not represent them, or at least act with their well being/quality of life in mind. Imagine if people came together, regardless of political party, religion, race, class, gender and agreed, “let’s put ALL our differences aside for a later day, but today….today let’s march on the capitol with 1 demand– Represent Us!”.
