What if we could lift 150 million people out of hunger? By empowering women farmers with education, money, and other resources we could increase crop yields by 20 to 30% and do just that. And if you’re wondering why I’m specifically talking about women, it’s because on a global scale women do not have the same accessibility to own land, receive loans, and other essential components of farming. Yet, they are leading the way when it comes to agriculture.
Today on The Doctor’s Farmacy I’m joined by Danielle Nierenberg to talk about the foundational role women play in agriculture all over the world and how we can all become better food activists. Danielle co-founded the non-profit Food Tank in 2013 as an organization focused on building a global community for safe, healthy, nourished eaters.

Thank You so much Mark, this was a great and fascinating interview, and well done.
Although I very much wanted to hear what this woman had to say–2 minutes into her speaking I had to turn it off. She has the very common, but horrible habit of using the “you know” phrase every few words, which is SO distracting to some of us that we can’t listen to them. I muted her and went to cc mode, but that was tedious, so within minutes I had to move on to another video. I have sone that on occasion with your guests before, but thankfully most are free of that annoying habit and I’ve learned much good info from them. So Thank You for these videos.
I have a hard time believing Monsanto is coming from the same place.
Dear Dr. Hyman, this is an INTERVIEW! Which means that TWO people are talking! — not one person interrupts and talks all the time and the other has a rear chance to stick a few words or say “absolutely” to agree with you… … 🙁 Please, stop talking sometimes, ask questions and LISTEN to the answers.
great what are feminists going to put in our food?
Wow, this video is great.

Loved this video! Two really smart, knowledgeable people talking about an important subject. Tried to pause the discussion but I couldn’t because it was so interesting. Danielle Nierenberg really knows her stuff, Mark Hyman too. Plus it wasn’t depressing (mostly) it was pretty uplifting. Thanks!
