When I was growing up we had news sources we could trust. Under The Fairness Doctrine, news on the radio, TV, and in print was partial and fair. But in 1987 during the Reagan administration, this was repealed, leading to alternative media and more misinformation than ever before. And now with the internet, we are truly in the wild west of sharing information, collecting data, and trying to maintain privacy. Big companies take advantage of that from all angels with their marketing, which is now ultra-targeted (and often in ways you wouldn’t even be able to recognize).
Today on The Doctor’s Farmacy, I sit down with Andy Russell to talk about what data really means, who has yours, how they got it, and how they use it. Andy is a digital media, ad-tech, marketing-tech, and data science innovator and pioneer as well as a self-taught Behavioral Economist. He has invested in, incubated, or run over 50 technology companies, including Daily Candy, Thrillist, Tasting Table, Idealbite, PureWow, Zynga, Betaworks, Business Insider, Sailthru, RapLeaf and LiveRamp, SpongeCell, AdRoll, and Bounce Exchange. He is the Founder and Chairman of Trigger Media, InsideHook, and Fevo.

I recently discovered Joovv, a red light therapy device. Red light therapy is a super gentle non-invasive treatment where a device with medical-grade LEDs delivers concentrated light to your skin. It actually helps your cells produce collagen so it improves skin tone and complexion, diminishes signs of aging like wrinkles, and speeds the healing of wounds and scars. To check out the Joovv products for yourself head over to joovv.com/farmacy. Once you’re there, you’ll see a special bonus the Joovv team is giving away to my listeners. awesome content I really liked it
Let your guest talk and don’t overpower him!
Thank you for this information‼️
The VA did all this, it seems to me 29:39 in retrospect, when I was involved 2005 to ’09!
Dr. Mark, I deeply appreciate and value the input and information that you provide in all of your videos, except this one.
The level of unrecognized political bias throughout the video was hard to swallow. While I understand some of the points that were made, it seems like there was no realization as to how the same concepts of bias and misinformation also apply to those on the Democratic or political left side of the spectrum.
Also, to say that those on the political left do not understand how these tools work does not make much sense especially because over 80% of those in the big technology companies are either mildly or strongly supportive of of more left-leaning Democrat politician, policies, and ideas.
Based on how you guys each presented things I can see and understand that a majority of this presentation is not intentional.
Because the language that was used during the interview and the examples given make it very clear that there is limited understanding of how this applies to both extremes.
For example how you spoke of “illegal immigrants coming to take our jobs” is a scare tactic.
That was actually a talking point that democrats including Barak Obama believed back in 2008 and I believe 2012.
Infact there are several democrats who advocated fo the same policies that Trump currently is advocating for. But since the political landscape is morphing it has become easier for those individuals to just claim Donald Trump is a racist rather for them to try and examine their reasoning.
In some ways some of the points you two mentioned appear to be strongly representative of those that are often parroted by certain news organizations or certain political figures. Compared to the ideas being well reasoned ideas that take all sides into consideration.
If you bring up a topic like this again please try to take an approach that does not implicate a specific political party on the disavowed actions of a few bad individuals.
Well said, Steve. I appreciate the content, but calling out the political right on this is not the way to solve it. There are problems on both sides of the aisle and I’m disappointed to find politics on this program. I’m here to learn about a healthy lifestyle and not listen to a man rant about Brad Pascal stealing his business. I think this guest could benefit from other videos produced by Dr. Mark on stress!
