Many of us were taught that eating dietary fat makes us fat and leads to heart disease. This assumption has been catastrophic for our health. In fact, fats are essential for optimal health, and saturated fat, specifically, is not the boogeyman we once thought. We know now that there is no monolithic saturated fat. There are many saturated fats, each with its own effects. The saturated fat in coconut, for instance is different from the saturated fat in butter.
In this mini-episode, Dr. Hyman talks with neurologist Dr. David Perlmutter about how saturated fat came to get such a bad rap. They dive into many of the ways the right saturated fats are beneficial to your health and discuss why, what Dr. Hyman calls “sweet fat,” is so harmful.

Dr Perlmutter doesnt address the “sweet fat” concept, the idea that the combo of fat and carb is dangerous
doesn’t it depend on the carbs?? greens contain carbs….wheat would be bad as it’s processed and devoid of nutrition; imho; looking at more detailed explanations ex: steak/stew and biscuits or some such comes to mind
@marcsa12 no. It doesnt depend on the carbs. Insulin resistance and metobolic syndrome in large part is caused by “Sweet fat”….the combo of sweet and fat ingested at the same time…. its what dr hymans point was but dr perlmutter did not address it.
“Focus on eating….unprocessed junk” <--- wth is that?
I think there must have been a typo.
But it is so tasty

Isn’t it ridiculous to say, that saturated fats are bad and and the same time be partially made of saturated fats.
It’s like saying, that oxygen causes oxidative stress, so we should avoid it.
