Dairy is linked to an increased risk of certain cancers, allergies, chronic illness, weight gain, and much more. Yet our government’s dietary guidelines tell us that we need three servings of dairy a day to get enough calcium and achieve optimal wellness. We now have plenty of research to show us this just isn’t the case.
Dr. David Ludwig joins me on The Doctor’s Farmacy this week to talk about some of the nutritional myths surrounding dairy and to discuss his own research on milk.
You can find the article by Dr. Ludwig that we mentioned here:
David S. Ludwig, MD, PhD is an endocrinologist and researcher at Boston Children’s Hospital. He holds the rank of Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and Professor of Nutrition at Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Ludwig is co-director of the New Balance Foundation Obesity Prevention Center and founder of the Optimal Weight for Life program, one of the country’s oldest and largest clinics for the care of overweight children.
I have been looking at giving up dairy. I just can’t seem to shake IBS. I’m lactose intolerant, so I use lactaid, but I’m still struggling with tummy upset.
You need to counter your dairy consumption with probiotics which are in real yogurt, organic kefir and quality black tea infused Kombucha. Gotta counter it with good flora and bacteria for gut health, that’s key, balance is key.
Or just drink real milk. Raw
Just like with raw honey , u get all the necessary enzymes and bacteria you’ll need to digest /break down
Same with meat, have it raw and see if u’ll digest it better and faster. It melts in your mouth, and almost zero discarding Everything absorbed. Pastorization/Cooking food kills Everything , and nutrients are lost and molecular structures are altered.
And yes, fermented food is good, raw sawerkraut being another one of them too.
Goat milk is so great for digestive health, it’s my favorite, also organic almond milk… minus all the hormones and antibiotics in everyday milk, I avoid too much lactose though. Mmm quality cheese is the best!
Dairy is not healthy for you!! Especially if you don’t know how or what the cow’s are fed??????
Processed cheese is bad for you
Low fat cheese is bad for you
Reduced fat cheese is bad for you
Skimmed milk and its products are bad for you
All you get is water and sugar and all the good stuff taken out
Plus, add the pastorization and homogenation, you get bad stuff coming for sure
RAW FULL FAT MILK , and RAW FULL FAT MATURE cheeses are actually superfoods.
Epitome of conventional wisdom and common. ignorance your comment is. No offense though
..and, as you say, it must be “grass fed only” cows, and nothing else.
Loretta Liebau agreed!
Dairy free cheese should be a thing!!!!!!!
Why is dairy in ice cream????? It should just be ice!!
Only if you’re a calf ..or me!
Anyhow… raw milk is the only way.
😉
No mention of the difference between raw milk and whatever that garbage is that is sold in supermarkets.
Dotheads drank *barfallo* melk, so…
Nature’s perfect food. Yes it is, but only if you are a calf! Hhahahahahahaa omg I love this guy so much 😀 a true genius and funny! I just found him on YouTube and trying to beat clinical depression with his method. I’m trying to fix leaky gut. Thanks for everything Dr. Hyman!
Try carnivore and you’ll fix both within a week days.
Then you’ll be laughing even more;)
Andygaro1 AG1 thanks for the reply but I am a little sceptical about that. Our system needs tons of vegetables especially our brain. But yes I heard about the Peterson family
Haven’t eaten any dairy products, processed foods and drinks in 3 months. Quit eating meat last week. Running everyday has never felt better. Personally, dogs lives matter just as much as Cows & chickens. We treat animals like slaves for our own “benefit,” and it ain’t right. I’m voting with my wallet and decisions.
So why don’t you switch to eating better quality/sourced meat ? Grass fed grass finished. Or wild and 100% pastured ( eggs/chicken/pork/
And unpastorised dairy?
Running is the worst form of exercise and with plants only as diet, you’re gonna have some serious troubles ahead.
Switch to farm sourced foods. Eat head to toe, like our ancestors did. Processed food is good for no one. It’s modern unnatural crap, as are modern practices of feedlot meat and intensive agriculture.
Things should be wild local seasonal and free roaming for you to hunt catch fish. Or sourced ethically and naturally.
Animals are food in nature. Always been like this, and the fact that ONLY the animal form of nutrients is bioavailable to the human body should be a giveaway

“animals are food in nature.” I take that you eat all animals including dogs and wild animals?
just consumed my very first raw goat kefir . . . it was delicious and I’ve not had any gut issues like I do with cow
we eat baby chick fetus food and no one’s yanking about that . . . if the government would get out of the nutrition business, that would help
