Mitochondria are key energy sources for our bodies. They are tiny factories housed within our cells that take the foods we eat and the oxygen we breathe and convert them into energy.
That energy is called adenosine triphosphate, or ATP, and it is used to support every function in our bodies.
My friend and colleague, Dr. Todd Lepine, joins me on The Doctor’s Farmacy this week to discuss one of his major focus areas, optimal aging. He shares why our mitochondria (tiny cellular energy factories) are also ancient bacteria that we can support in many ways, to reduce the signs of aging and treat major metabolic diseases.
Dr. LePine graduated from Dartmouth Medical School and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, specializing in Integrative Functional Medicine. He is an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner. Prior to joining my team at The UltraWellness Center, he worked as a physician at Canyon Ranch in Lenox, MA, for 10 years. Dr. LePine’s goal is to help patients achieve vitality through focusing on optimal aging, bio-detoxification, functional gastrointestinal health, systemic inflammation, autoimmune disorders, and the neurobiology of mood and cognitive disorders.
With my PPMS cold is the key or die by the heat. So soon I’m moving to the Himalayas to escape the crazy heat and world. God willing
My a.c. is on 55° and I do not run the heat in the winter lol
How much time in the cold do you need?
How cold does the water have to get to activate brown fat? How long does one need to stay in the cold bath to encourage new mitochondria and activate brown fat? Details are important, please share these. Thanks.
